With little notice, The Hill Country Rocketeers, or more precisely Art Applewhite, was asked by various hill country school systems to assist them with the RSO oversight of their high school HPR test flights. The schools have an educational rocketry program teaching kids the science behind high power, hybrid nylon/N2O (nitros) rocketry and there were some really great flights as a result. Unfortunately, an important part of rocketry is the "art" of recovery system reliability. An art that these kids need to dig into a bit more. :) None of the launches that I was there for (4-5 of them) had any succesfull recoveries.
While I was not able to assist all day, I was able to take a 1/2 day off work, come up and take these photos and videos for Art. Really great kids and fun times, as well as "eduction through gravitation". :)
