Antlers Oklahoma Cabin Camping Trip of 2006

Background: This trip was in July of 2006 in the SE corner of Oklahoma. It's not as flat and yellow as the rest of Oklahoma, but it sure was hot! We met Tom's parents there and just relaxed for the week.

Here's the cabin we stayed in.
thumbs/adscf0077.png
It was right on the pond, so we did a lot of fishing.
thumbs/adscf0078.png
Pretty.
thumbs/adscf0079.png
Mom caught a 14" large mouth that we were supposed to throw back. But he died before we could. So we kept him.
thumbs/adscf0080.png
Pretty nice little pond.
thumbs/adscf0081.png
Nice sun set.
thumbs/adscf0082.png
Everyone's ready for bed.
thumbs/adscf0083.png
We had to fish early and late because in was in to 100's all week!

This is us in "the" local restaurant making a scene.

This is mom and Teri in the paddle boat.
thumbs/e_dscf0008.png
Dad and I stuck with the canoe. It was very smooth on the pond.

Up and At'em. Fishing again!
thumbs/e_dscf0012.png
He's all rigged up now.
thumbs/e_dscf0013.png
It's Farm Dog Bear!
thumbs/e_dscf0014.png
He's a runnin' fool!
thumbs/e_dscf0015.png
Bear didn't like being left on shore.
thumbs/e_dscf0016.png
But he figured it out and came back to land.
thumbs/e_dscf0017.png
Acha-cha-cha-cha! Refreshing!
thumbs/e_dscf0018.png
There they go...
thumbs/e_dscf0019.png
Heh.. That's dad in the canoe, in case you can't tell by the tilt of the bow. ;)
thumbs/e_dscf0020.png
Bear Boy like cabin camping!

thumbs/e_dscf0026.png
Mom after an after noon/lunch nap.
thumbs/e_dscf0027.png
I just woke up too.
thumbs/e_dscf0029.png
Oh yea... we're in vacation mode now.
thumbs/e_dscf0030.png
Bear doesn't often like to be cuddled long... Unless he's really worn out.
thumbs/e_dscf0032.png
Teri loves it when Bear snuggles.
thumbs/e_dscf0034.png
The next day, for lunch, we had 1/2lb burgers from the grill! Wow.. they're HUGE!
thumbs/e_dscf0035.png
Camera still in the same position, that night, we finally had enough fish for a fish fry! Bass, Blue Gill and hush puppies! Yum!
thumbs/e_dscf0036.png
Now for a night time retreat to the swimming pool up at the big house.
thumbs/e_dscf0037.png
The pool water was almost 90 degrees. Not exactly cool, but it was refreshing.
thumbs/e_dscf0038.png
The next day we went "into town" and had some blue bell ice cream at the local ice cream shack (literally, a converted shed with tables).
thumbs/e_dscf0041.png
"Eeewwww.. It's all wet in here!"
thumbs/e_dscf0042.png
That night, in the 94 degree heat, dad wanted to build a bonfire to roast weenies and marshmallows! hehe
thumbs/e_dscf0043.png
Note the height of the fire. That's from the fish grease from last night.. ;)
thumbs/e_dscf0045.png
Teri trying to get her weenie in before SHE gets cooked!
thumbs/e_dscf0048.png
My weenie. "T" for Tom. How many Ts can you find in this photo? Really?!
thumbs/e_dscf0049.png
Dad got up extra early to go back to the dock for that big catfish that got away last night. Look at the stomach on him! And the fish has a big one too!
thumbs/e_dscf0051.png
Mom and dad singing Sunday morning praises.
thumbs/e_dscf0053.png
The ranch owner also raises deer.
thumbs/e_dscf0054.png
We had never had a white tail LICK US before though. That was strange!
thumbs/e_dscf0055.png
Then the owner's son "Bubba" (yes.. his real birth name) took us out to the power lines for some shootin' practice. This is Teri with Grandma Weeks' 22 auto.
thumbs/e_dscf0056.png
Then with dad's snub nosed 357 magnum!
thumbs/e_dscf0058.png
Wow.. What a kick!
thumbs/e_dscf0059.png
Loud too!
thumbs/e_dscf0060.png
Dad has his conceal to carry for this gun.

Cute Bear...
thumbs/e_dscf0075.png
Last day.. all packed and ready to head out.
thumbs/e_dscf0077.png
Last goodbyes and parting jokes...
thumbs/e_dscf0079.png
and hugs. (cool shirt eh?)
thumbs/e_dscf0080.png
Oh yes.. here's the entry way sign to the ranch.
thumbs/ze_dscf0039.png
Here are some photos of funny signs we saw around town. A gas station beauty shop.
thumbs/ze_dscf0040.png
Teri really liked this one.. But mom didn't get it.
thumbs/ze_dscf0042.png
Here was another funny/ironic one. A motorcycle store and flower shop. One stop shopping for the bike and the funeral flowers! hehe..
thumbs/ze_dscf0081.png
And of course before going back to Texas, we had to get a photo of the wonderful town sign of "Antlers Oklahoma, Deer Capitol Of The World!"
