Modifying Your Hardware Underclocking...

• Goal: To make a low cost, high availability system

• Steps for Underclocking A System:

• Remove the CPU fan from the heatsink

• Underclock CPU by 50%

• Verify you have a good heatsink/CPU interface

• Stress test using memtest-86

• Keep CPU temp UNDER 120ºF while under load

  • Keep cool blow dryer on hand in case it gets too hot to touch

• If stress test was ~120ºF, full load firewall will be <100ºF (w/no fan!)
