Designing Your Network
Goal: To get your network IP space organized and planned out
Reserve first 5-20 IPs for static machine/server mappings (1-20)
- 1 for firewall/gateway (DHCP, DNS, NTP)
- 2 for fileserver (SMB, NFS, FTP), 3 for web server(HTTP), etc...
Bulk of middle 255 IPs go for dynamic DHCP client use (21-230)
Upper 25 IPs reserved for network devices (231-254)
- 250 for Wireless AP
- 254 for other gateway
Q: What Ports and IPs need to get through?
Q: Do you need port mapping (DNAT) thorugh your firewall?
