Configuring Your Firewall

• Reboot and Test Connectivity:

  • At the root prompt, type reboot:
    • root@Devil:~ # reboot
  • Allow to reboot unattended.
  • Hook up a laptop/internal PCs to the switch
  • Boot laptop/PC and do IP/connection tests
    • Does it get onto the internal network?
    • Type /sbin/ifconfig on the internal system (ipconfig for win)
    • Try ping 192.168.1.1
    • Try ping 216.239.37.99 (google.com IP)
    • Try ping google.com
